Leg Machines

A leg machine is a device that generally works the muscles in the legs. It includes leg extension machine, stair climber, elliptical trainers, stationary bicycles, leg press machines and tread mills, among other things. The legs are the largest and most powerful muscles in the human body. Hence, many exercise machines are designed to target the leg muscles. The legs account for almost half of the body mass. Most sports involve the use of leg power, which is enhanced by regular walking, jogging, running and leg exercise.

Squat remains the best leg exercise and is preferably done using free weights or the power cage. Use a leg extension machine for a more concentrated workout. Other leg machines provide for compound exercise routines, which work several muscle groups, not just the legs. A good example of this device is the leg press machine, which also works the hip, knee and ankle joints.
