Balance Boards
A balance board is used for recreation, athletic training, brain development, therapy, musical training and other kinds of personal development. It is a lever similar to a see-saw where the user stands on with each of the feet at the opposite ends. The user strives to stay balanced and keeps the board’s edge from touching the ground. Different balance boards offer varying challenges.

Some are easy enough for toddlers and elderly while some are difficult and dangerous even for professional athletes. The difficulty comes with the board’s stability and how freely the fulcrum contacts the board and the ground. The fulcrum is the unstable ground-contacting component. Balance boards were originally made for skiers and surfers for off-season practice. Today, balance boards are used in all sports and martial arts.
